Thomas “Tom” Farren, 95, of Muddy Creek Mountain, Alderson, WV, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV.
Born May 9, 1922 at Blue Sulphur Springs, WV, he was the son of Elwood and Lilly Brock Farren.
Tom was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, where he received a Purple Heart. He had worked for Acme Limestone for 13 years, retired from the Alderson Federal Prison after 20 years of service, and drove for the Mountain Transit Authority for several years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, William Diem.
Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Anna Virginia Diem Farren; two sons, Gary Farren and wife, Bonnie, and Bill Farren and wife, Ada, all of Alderson; five granddaughters, Susan Byers of Alderson, Sarah Browning and husband, Joey, of Alderson, Carrie Farren of Wheeling, WV, Jennifer Farren and husband, Zack Hahn, of Alabama, and Maxanna Bennett of Pittsburgh, PA; nine great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Kathy Diem of Texas; niece, Candy Sandlin and husband, John, of Texas; nephew, John Diem and wife, Julie, of Texas; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and special caregivers, Glenna Parrish, Holly Forren, Carol Holt, Becky Gadd and Angela Hardiman.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2018, at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV, with Paul Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the C.D. Hanger Cemetery, Muddy Creek Mountain Rd., Alderson, WV.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of the service, Sunday at the funeral home.
