Velma Opal Brooks, 87, of Ronceverte, WV, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017.
Born October 19, 1930, at Fort Spring, WV, she was the daughter of Herbert Lewis and Edith Pearl Brant Woodrum.
Opal was a member of the White Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. She and her loving husband of 69 years, Arthur Junior Brooks, owned and operated restaurants throughout Greenbrier County, including the Corner Grill in Ronceverte, Top Hat Billiards in Lewisburg, WV, and the Bluegrass Restaurant in Caldwell, WV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Samantha Brooks; brothers, Sonny and Earl Woodrum; and sisters, Lavetta Cloum and Brenda Zimmerman.
Including her husband, survivors are a son, Lewis Brooks and wife, Rhonda, of Caldwell; daughter, Sharon Jones of Caldwell; brothers, Bobby Woodrum and wife, Ruth, of Charleston, WV, and David Woodrum and wife, Glemma, of Ronceverte; grandchildren, Nichole Rodoussakis, Richard Brooks and wife, Debbie, Leah Angle and husband, Chris, Paula Baker and husband, Steve, and Sarah Nussbaum and husband, Fred; great-grandchildren, Christian Taylor, Josh and Adam Baker, Rachel and Rebecca Brooks, Kason Angle, Madison and Rylee Bolt, Samual Brooks, and Emily, Noah, and Sydney Nussbaum; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, December 22, 2017, at Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, with Robert Vass officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
