Charleston, W.Va (WVDN) – It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that the West Virginia Democratic Party Executive Committee mourns the loss of a dedicated public servant and former member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, Virginia Mahan.
WVDP Chair Mike Pushkin said, “Delegate Mahan leaves behind a legacy of public service and compassionate leadership that her family, friends, and every West Virginian should be proud. She was a tireless advocate for the interests of her constituents and was a champion of public education, health care, social justice and economic development.”
Delegate Mahan served the people of House of Delegates from 1996 to 2012. Beyond her many political achievements, she was beloved by her family and friends and the countless individuals she came into contact with.
The loss of Delegate Mahan is not only felt by her family and friends but by the entire state of West Virginia. Her life of service and dedication to the betterment of our state will serve as a benchmark for future leaders within our party and our state.
On behalf of the West Virginia Democratic Party Executive Committee, and Democrats across the state, I extend our deepest condolences to Delegate Mahan’s family and loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time of mourning. As we bid farewell to a remarkable public servant, we also celebrate the indelible mark she left on her community and our state.
