William Moore Higginbotham III, 72, of Frankford, WV, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Autumn Way Assisted Living in Rupert, WV.
Mr. Higginbotham was born June 15, 1945, in Frankford to the late William Moore Higginbotham Jr. and Lula Margaret Bennett Higginbotham.
William was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in White Sulphur Springs, WV. In this 72 years he made a long list of accomplishments, being a member of the White Sulphur Springs Rotary Club, the White Sulphur Springs Chamber of Commerce, 4-H All-Stars, former state chairman of the Republican Committee and chairman of Greenbrier County Republican Committee, Republican Executive Committee, the Farm Bureau, a former board member of the West Virginia State Fair, National Fairs and Festivals Committee, the West Virginia Funeral Director Association, and the National Funeral Director Association. He was a graduate of Frankford High School and Beckley College. After graduating from Cincinnati School of Mortuary Science, he started his funeral service career with the former Jack K. Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, WV. Bill then went to work for Shanklin Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs and, with time, became the owner and operator of Shanklin Funeral Home.
Although Mr. Higginbotham never had children, left behind to cherish his memory are his siblings, Lucy Tuckwiller and husband, Ben, of Lewisburg and Charles Higginbotham and wife, Carla, of Frankford; nieces and nephews, Anthony Banton and wife, Jennifer, Megan Crane and husband, Josh, Stephen Snyder and wife, Leann, Michael Snyder, Russ Higginbotham and wife, Heather, and Josh Higginbotham and wife, Kelli; as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs, formerly known as Shanklin Funeral Home, at 1 PM with the Rev. Emory Hanna officiating. Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 6, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in White Sulphur Springs.
