LEWISBURG (WVDN) – The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection has issued a statewide air quality alert until midnight tonight. The WVDEP’s statement noted that the Ait Quality Index scores for most of the state are between 101 and 150. This range can “cause health effects in sensitive groups.”
The WVDEP states that sensitive groups include children, the elderly, and people with asthma and other lung diseases. The announcement recommends minimizing outdoor exercise or strenuous activity. N-95 masks “can help reduce smoke inhalation and potential health risks.”
