FAYETTEVILLE, WV- The 10–12-year-old Central Greenbrier Little League all-stars got off to a dominant start to the campaign when they beat Fayetteville 16-0 in three innings.
After CG pitcher Cooper Sabbag struck out the side to open the game, the CG offense came to the plate focused and ready to go. They pounded out five hits which led to seven runs. Alex Hanna led off with a double, Evan Dixon walked, and Bo Bundy ripped a 2-run single to center that put Central Greenbrier up 2-0, and Bundy was also on third after a couple errors on the play. Bundy would score along with Acen Workman on Peyton Ervin’s triple. Then, Colton DeHaven knocked in Ervin on a base hit and CG led 5-0. A couple more runs scored as CG led 7-0 after one.
CG had seven consecutive hits to open the second inning including doubles by Hanna, Bundy and Workman, and a solo home run from Elijah Sherman. Central Greenbrier just continued to cruise against the overmatched Fayetteville team, and they came away with a big first victory.
Hanna went 3-3 with three runs scored. Bundy, Ervin, Sherman and DeHaven all had two hits each. Bundy drove in four runs, while Sherman and DeHaven knocked in three apiece.
Sabbag pitched 2.1 innings, allowed no hits and struck out six in his victory.
