Dale Boone and Braydon McClung were recently selected to the baseball Class A all-state second team.
McClung made the team as an infielder and Boone was pegged as a utility player.
Both players hit extremely well in 2023 with McClung leading the Cavaliers in batting average at .421. He also had 11 doubles, three triples, 20 RBIs, scored 37 runs and had a team-leading 21 stolen bases.
Boone was a two-way player and had a big senior year as well. The West Virginia State commit hit .372 with six doubles, two home runs and 25 RBIs. He also scored 25 runs and stole 14 bases. Boone made his presence felt on the mound as well. He threw 46 innings, gave up just 34 hits and had 68 strikeouts. He carried a 4-4 record with an ERA of 1.97
James Monroe placed Cooper Ridgeway on the second team, and his teammate Junior Jones secured a spot on the honorable mention list.
Ridgeway, a catcher, led the Mavericks with a .364 average and scored a team-best 27 runs. He drove in 15 more, had six doubles and swiped 17 bases.
Jones (.308) also had six doubles, drove and drove in 16 runs for his 17-11 squad on the year.
