LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) – The Thistle Lounge at the historic General Lewis Inn in Lewisburg welcomes the award winning, watercolor artist Sharon Harms for a solo exhibit.
Harms will present original, watercolor artwork with a nature inspired theme.
Harms is a participating member of the Allied Artists of West Virginia, and she features her artwork at Tamarack. Originally a Chicago resident, Harms attended the Art Institute of Chicago. She enrolled in the American Academy of Art in Chicago for graphic design and illustration.
Having moved to West Virginia over 30 years ago, she shared a business with her filmmaker husband, Bill Hogan, called Image Associates. Her work is included in the permanent collection of the state of West Virginia, and she accepts commissioned watercolor paintings. She also crafted the glass doors to the Fine Art Gallery at Tamarack many years ago when she worked exclusively in glass art. Many of Harms’ botanical paintings are inspired by her lush home garden filled with exotic flowers and butterflies.
The community is invited to meet and greet the artist on June 2 from 5:30-6:45 p.m. at the General Lewis Inn.
“My paintings reflect my love of nature, personal observations and my fondest memories. Painting is as much a therapy as a joy in my life. It is a way for me to record my thoughts and feelings in a sort of pictorial journal,” says Sharon Harms.
Harms’ exhibit will run June 2-July 31.
