BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVDN) – On May 2, Greenbrier East’s Abby Dixon ran and sprinted her way to a first-place finish in the 800m at Woodrow Wilson High School.
Dixon was happy with her finish at a rival school’s track like Woodrow’s.
“It felt pretty great,” Dixon said.
After the victory, Dixon feels like she has some attainable goals as the season enters its last few weeks.
“I want to be region champ in the 800, place at states in the 800 and help my 4×8 and 4×4 team make it to states,” she said.
Dixon was nominated for The West Virginia Daily News Athlete of the Year award, and she is happy her hard work has paid off.
“I’m very thankful to have the chance to win an award like that,” Dixon stated.
