LINDSIDE, W.Va. (WVDN) – The James Monroe Mavericks cruised through the West Virginia state basketball tournament en route to their second consecutive Class A championship.

The Mavs beat Cameron in the first game 74-32, then took down Clay-Batelle 76-47 and clinched their title against Tucker County with a 66-35 blowout.

James Monroe star, Eli Allen who also was named the West Virginia Gatorade player of the year last week, scored 29 in the final game and shot 67% in the three games.

Allen and Josh Burks were named to the all-tournament team.

With the victory, the Mavericks have etched their names into the history books and the last couple years will forever go down as one of the greatest time periods in James Monroe history.
