Lady Spartan soccer player Delanie Voiles has decided to reside in Athens, West Virginia, for the next four years, as she signed her letter of intent to play soccer at Concord.
Voiles shined at Greenbrier East, and although Concord was not her top choice through the whole process, it was the one school that just kept standing out for different reasons.
“Concord has always been one of my top 5 colleges. Although it may not have been number one for a little while, it stood out to me. When I visited, everything about it seemed welcoming and comfortable. It wasn’t too big, and that is what I wanted in a school,” Voiles said.
While to many, high school is considered to be the best days of your life, Voiles admits she is ready for that next step of independence.
“Quite honestly, I am most looking forward to being on my own and kind of just doing my own thing and meeting new people,” she said.
Once she is there on her own, she understands the importance of continuing to grow as a person and as an athlete as well.
“Once I am there, my main goals really are just maintaining good grades, getting out of my comfort zone and keeping up with soccer and bettering myself in my sport,” Voiles explained.
While moving away from the comfort of her own home may take some time getting used to, Voiles’ Spartan coaches have done their best to prepare her for what comes next.
“My coaches at East have done a lot for me that’s prepared me for this ‘next level’ of my life and have shaped me into the player I am now. They have taught me to be humble in my sport and to not continue stressing over something I’ve done wrong but find how I can make it right. They have made me better as a person and a soccer player,” Voiles concluded.
Voiles will major in biology.
