Joseph Ronald “Joe” Furry, 84, of Lewisburg, WV, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017, at the Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea, WV.
Born September 18, 1932, at Beards Fork, WV, he was the son of Charley Tilden and Fronia Walton Furry.
Joe was retired from the Army as a master sergeant after 24 years of service. He was a car enthusiast and loved to go fishing. Joe was a life member of the Ron Lew VFW Post 4940 in Lewisburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Ronald Furry II; brother, Philip T. Furry; sister, Ramona D. Boggs; and two stepsons, Terry and Delbert Campbell.
Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Margie Ann Brooks Campbell Furry; daughter, Terime “Teri” Furry Houser of Staunton, VA; stepsons, Dale Campbell and wife, Teresa, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Mark Campbell of Ronceverte, WV; stepdaughters, Jackie Defibaugh and husband, Wayne, and Janet Campbell, all of Ronceverte; grandchildren, Abby Jo Houser of Richmond, VA, and Daniel E. Houser of Staunton; great-grandson, Taven Houser; numerous step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at the Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens in Lewisburg.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday at the funeral home.
