Wanda Jean Rodgers of Organ Cave, WV, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2016, at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, WV.
Wanda was born in Lewisburg, WV, on February 3, 1934, to E. Wayne Blake and Wilsie Hanson.
She was a superintendent for 30 years in the quilts department at the State Fair of West Virginia, was a homemaker, and was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel “Sam” E. Rodgers; and her siblings, Mildred Whanger, Jane Lively, and Eddie Blake.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Rodgers of Organ Cave; son, Paul Rodgers and wife, Debi, of Organ Cave; grandchildren, Allen Hawver and wife, Sherry, Laura Hawver and fiance, Jamie Hughes, Justin Rodgers and wife, Trinadad, and Christopher Hawver; and great-grandchildren, Mary and James Rodgers and Abby and Sam Hawver.
A funeral was held to honor the memories shared with Wanda on Sunday, December 4, 2016, at 1:30 PM at the Elizabeth Chapel in Organ Cave with Pastors Dave Stilgenbauer and Andy Howdock officiating. Burial followed at the Rosewood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church Benevolence Fund or Ronceverte Baptist Church Benevolence Fund or Sheep Heritage Memorial Fund, Rodgers Family Memorial at 9785 Maroon Circle, Suite 360, Englewood, CA 80112.
