Lanty W. Watson, 86, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016, at home.
Born May 4, 1930, in Neola, WV, Lanty was the son of Harold Warder and Anna Lisle Hefner Watson.
Lanty was a retired carpenter, a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of American Local #1911, senior program advisor for USDA Forest Service, and was a ham radio operator.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Lou Maupin Watson; daughter, Belinda Scott; son, Robert “Bob” Bostic; and sisters, Nina Grimes and Gail Rexrode.
Survivors include his daughters, Annamae Peltier and companion, Bing Hammer of Lewisburg, WV, Cynthia “Cindy” Watson of White Sulphur Springs; son-in-law, Ronnie Scott of White Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Matthew Peltier and fiancee, Kendra Burns, of White Sulphur Springs, Kimberly Lester and husband, Mark, of Neola, WV, and Kevin Scott and wife, Ashley, of White Sulphur Springs; great-grandchildren, Will Lester of Camp Lejeune, NC, Jasmine and Alexis of South Boston, VA, and Remington, Hayleigh, Heide, Lanti, and Caroline of White Sulphur Springs; special nieces, Denise Wylie and Lisa Martin; numerous other nieces and nephews; and faithful companions, his dog, Sandy, and his cat, Fat Cat.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, November 28, 2016, at Whatcoat United Methodist Church with Pastors John Kelly and Ed Craft officiating. Burial will follow at the Mapledale Cemetery.
Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church on Monday.
