BETHANY (WVDN) – Bethany College is taking impressive strides to provide new and exciting opportunities for students, including a partnership with West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM).

Students who enroll in Bethany College in pursuit of a future medical degree will receive guaranteed acceptance to the pre-Osteopathic program at WVSOM upon completion of program requirements.

“We are extremely proud to bring our current and prospective students new opportunities and exceptional value by attending Bethany College,” says Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi. “So many students dream of one day being a physician but are intimidated by the fact that nationally only a third of those who apply ever get accepted. This partnership with the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine ensures that Bethany students will be guaranteed a seat at one of the best medical schools in the country. “

To qualify for the program, students must be at least a sophomore enrolled at Bethany College with a science G.P.A. of 3.4 or higher and must have completed eight hours of both biology and chemistry with labs.

“WVSOM is thrilled to establish this guaranteed admissions program with Bethany College,” says Jim Nemitz, president of West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. “This program will enable Bethany students pursuing the dream of becoming a physician to secure a seat at our medical school. We look forward to seeing more Bethany students on our campus in the coming years!”

Students accepted into the program will be assigned a WVSOM faculty mentor to monitor their progress and answer questions. They will also provide students with job shadowing opportunities and chances to expand their network with medical professionals.

WVSOM has ranked as one of the nation’s top medical schools for over two decades. WVSOM is also number one in the nation among all medical school graduating physicians who practice in rural areas, according to Academic Medicine.

In addition to the partnership with WVSOM, Bethany College has recently established partnerships and articulation agreements with Wheeling University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) College of Pharmacy, Appalachian School of Law, West Virginia University Reed College of Media, and Duquesne’s Palumbo-Donahue School of Business.

In an effort to create new opportunities internally, Bethany has recently introduced new majors in criminal justice and international studies, as well as a Master of Business Administration 4+1 program. The College is also excited to announce the recent addition of an esport gaming management minor.

Bethany College is continuing to add more partnerships, programs, and collaborations as it strives to provide current and prospective students with the utmost quality of higher education and the atmosphere to advance academic opportunities. Learn more at www.BethanyWV.edu.
