Leslie Lee “Shorty” Phillips Jr., 85, of Alderson, WV, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, WV.
Shorty was born March 10, 1931, in Meadow Bridge, WV, to Leslie Lee Phillips and Beulah Lea Arbaugh.
He worked as a powder monkey for the quarry. Previously, he was a United States Marine. Shorty was a very active member and deacon of the Grace Bible Church in Asbury, WV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lola Eggleston and Rosaline Shafer; and brothers, Wesley Phillips and Wilbur Phillips.
Leslie is survived by a sister, Etta Lane Gwinn and husband Jack, of Gaithersburg, MD; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 2 PM at Grace Bible Church with Pastors Don Smith and Mike Teubert officiating. Burial will follow at the Alderson Cemetery, where Leslie will be laid to rest beside his parents.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 27, from 6-8 PM at the church in Asbury.
