Maxine V. McKnight, 92, of Rainelle, WV, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Greenbrier Manor Nursing Home in Fairlea, WV.
Born July 13, 1923, she was the daughter of Claude E. Vance and Mildred G. Vance.
Maxine graduated from Rainelle High School and worked as a licensed insurance agent with the Rainelle Insurance Agency, retiring after 52 years.
She was a very special aunt to her many nieces and nephews who will be left with wonderful memories.
She was especially cherished by her caregiver/niece, Jamie Harvey, and family. She was married for 57 years to the love of her life, James “Mickey” McKnight. She was a past member of the CEOS Club, Modern Woodsmen of America, and the Highland Church of God in Rainelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude E. and Mildred G. Vance; the love of her life, James “Mickey” McKnight; sisters, Virginia Yeargo and Maude V. Price; brother, Claude E. “Punk” Vance Jr.; brothers-in-law, Nick Yeargo, C.W. Price, Lawrence “Buck” Persinger, Glenn McKnight, and John Gavanus; and sister-in-law, Lilian Gavanus.
Surviving her are a brother, James “Jim” Vance and wife, Shirley; sister, Evon A. Persinger; and sister-in-law, Addie Vance.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, April 1, 2016, at 11 AM at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Robert O. Hefner officiating.
There are not enough words to express or praise the care, love and companionship given to Maxine during her years at Greenbrier Manor.
