Elizabeth Yancey McIlhenney Kane, 46, of Ruckersville, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 25, 2015, at her home after a brief illness.
Yancey was born October 13, 1969, in New Orleans, LA, daughter of John Boyd McIlhenney and Kim Brown McIlhenney of Lewisburg, WV.
She attended Greenbrier East High School in Fairlea, WV, and New River Community and Technical College in Lewisburg. She was loved by family and friends, particularly for her tremendously kind and generous spirit and her ineffable sense of humor.
She is survived and deeply missed by her husband, David B. Kane; her parents; brothers, William W. McIlhenney of Roanoke, VA, and John M. McIlhenney of Orlando, FL; sister and brother-in-law, Sara Daniels McIlhenney and Thomas J. Donohue, M.D.; extended family; many friends; and her beloved Siamese cat, Maliwan.
A memorial service will be held at 5 PM on Friday, January 15, 2016, at the Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA, 22968. She will be interred in Maplewood Cemetery in Charlottesville, VA, on January 15.
A local memorial service is scheduled for Friday, January 22, at 2 PM at St. James Episcopal Church in Lewisburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA, 3355 Berkmar Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
