Ruth Genevieve Crowe Huffman, 93, passed way Monday, September 28, 2015, at her home in Alderson, WV, following a sudden illness.

Born August 28, 1922, in Senecaville, OH, she was the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Forest Mae Meighen Crowe.

Mrs. Huffman worked various jobs throughout her life. She worked as a clerk at Alderson’s Clothing Store in Alderson for many years. She was employed at the former Bendix Corporation in Lewisburg, WV, and worked at the Army Depot in Columbus, OH, making bomb signs for airplanes. When her husband passed away in 1978, she took over running the daily operations of their beef cattle farm and farmed full time.

Mrs. Huffman was a 1940 graduate of Senecaville High School in Senecaville. She was a member of the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alderson and was a former member of the Senecaville Methodist Church in Senecaville. She was a former member of the Blue Sulphur Springs Home Extension Club and loved to crochet and make afghans. But above all, Mrs. Huffman loved to farm. The farm was her life, and farming meant everything to her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Willis Huffman; four sisters, Lillian Mae Crowe Richey, Mary Marie Crowe Curtis, Betty Jane Crowe Chester, and Bonnie Deane Crowe Potts; four brothers, Argel Avery Crowe, Melvin Andrew Crowe, Joseph Walter Crowe, and an infant brother; a niece, Mary Jo Potts; and a nephew, John Medley.

Survivors include a sister, Wanda June Crowe Grywalsky of Reynoldsburg, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2015, at 2:30 PM at the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alderson with the Rev. Dr. Bill Bryan officiating. Burial will follow at the Alderson Cemetery in Alderson.

Friends may call Sunday, October 4, from 1:30-2:30 PM at the church in Alderson.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Lobban Funeral Home in Alderson is in charge of arrangements.
