Bobby Donald Lacy, 71, of Viera, FL, and Alderson, WV, formerly of Alexandria, VA, passed away Monday, August 10, 2015, at the Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice Care Center in Rockledge, FL, following a short battle with gastric cancer.
Born March 27, 1944, in Alderson, he was the son of the late Cloyd Melvin and Mary Louise Stanley Lacy.
Mr. Lacy was a retired middle school teacher, having taught physical education and health education. He retired in June 1999 after 32 years of service in the Alexandria City School System in Alexandria, where he was also football coach and enjoyed coaching his true love, basketball. He was a 1962 graduate of Groveton High School in Fairfax County, VA, and graduated from Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, WV. Mr. Lacy attended the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alderson.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Hess Lacy of Viera and Alderson; a brother-in-law, James Hess and wife, Joanie, of California; a niece, Marie Hess of New York; a nephew, James Hess and wife, Doris, of California; and many cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at 11 AM at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel in Alderson with the Rev. Dr. Bill Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in the Alderson Cemetery in Alderson.
Friends may call Monday, August 24, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Alderson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Emmett Stanley, Harry Stanley, Paul Stanley, Teddy Stanley, Dick Wickline, and Alan Stanley.
