Gerald David “Jerry” Hedrick, 75, passed away Monday, July 6, 2015, in San Diego, CA, with his family by his side, following a courageous 14-month battle with cancer. Prior to his illness, he was a resident of Windsor, CO.
He was born February 2, 1940, near Fort Spring, WV.
Jerry was a 1958 graduate of Greenbrier High School in Ronceverte, WV. He served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy, followed by serving in the California National Guard. For a number of years, he owned and managed a large and successful trucking business. Jerry was a member of the Windsor Church of Christ in Windsor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy David Hedrick and Neta Marie Sarver Hedrick; a daughter, Kathy Sue Hedrick; his brother James Larry Hedrick; and a son-in-law, Christopher Thornton.
Jerry is survived by three daughters, Deborah Lynn Garland and husband, Matthew, of Gillette, WY, Julie Marie King of Ramona, CA, and Cindy Lee Thornton of Greeley, CO; six grandchildren, Randi Carol Winchester of San Diego, Kathryn King Frye and husband, James, of San Diego, Anthony Simmons and Trent Simmons of Greeley, and Caytlynn and Matthew Garland of Gillette; his sister, Joyce Hedrick Coiner and husband, Jim, of Princeton, WV; his brother, Kenneth A. Hedrick and wife, Patricia, of Cicero, NY; nieces, Pamela Hedrick Marshall of Valparaiso, IN, and Cherie Coiner Durbin and husband, Ron, of Christiansburg, VA; a grandniece, Kimberly Marshall of Hobart, IN; and a grandnephew, Barrett Durbin of Christiansburg.
Graveside services with military rites were held at the Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego on Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
Bonham Brothers and Stewart Funeral Home in Ramona, CA, was in charge of arrangements.
