Donald E. “Dagg” Parker Sr., 86, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea, WV, following a long illness.
Born August 31, 1928, he was a son of the late Joseph and Amanda Bryant Parker.
He was in the U.S. Army and was a retired coal miner, was a member of the UMWA, Midland Trail Lodge No. 144 A.F.&A.M., and Greenbrier Valley Shrine Club, and worked at Hercules in Covington, VA, and then retired from Pittston Coal Company in 1985.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters and one grandchild, Ashley Parker.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Parker of Clintonville, WV; one daughter, Kim Nickell (Tim) of Clintonville; two sons, Donald E. Parker Jr. (Debbie) of Lewisburg, WV, and Charlie Parker (Tricia Lynn) of Smoot, WV; grandchildren, Michael, Brittany, Kelly, and Josh Parker (Kirsten), Courtney Parker, Samantha Hicks (Chris), Abby Nickell, and Ty Parker Nickell; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Kameron, and Kadin Parker; and two brothers, Gordon Parker of Richmond, VA, and Fred Parker of Roanoke, VA.
Services are scheduled for 2 PM on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel in Rainelle, WV. Entombment will follow at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum in Clintonville.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday, July 11, from 6-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Greenbrier Valley Shrine Club, 205 Echols Lane, Lewisburg, WV, 24901, or to Peyton Hospice House, 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
