Orville Aaron “Otie” Boone, 72, of Organ Cave, WV, formerly of Alderson, WV, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at The Springs Nursing Center in Hot Springs, VA, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born June 21, 1942, at Judson, WV, he was the son of the late Perry Newton and Neva Harris Boone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Mr. Boone retired in 2009 from Applied Extrusion Technologies Inc., formerly Hercules Inc., in Covington, VA, after 45 years of service. He was a 1960 graduate of Talcott High School in Talcott, WV, and served six years in the West Virginia Army National Guard, having served as a sergeant, and was a sharpshooter. Mr. Boone attended the Caldwell Pentecostal Holiness Church in Caldwell, WV. He was an avid horseshoe player and enjoyed playing in horseshoe tournaments, enjoyed working with horses, and spending time outdoors. Mr. Boone was extremely devoted to his work and would do anything for anyone, but above all, he will always be remembered for being the kind-hearted person he was.

Survivors include his loving wife and soul mate, Lola Lewis Boone of Organ Cave; a son, Mikel Boone and wife, Kathy, of Ripley, WV; a stepdaughter, who was very dear to him, Angie Level Shaffier and husband, Kirk, of Rockville, VA; three stepsons, Billy Level and wife, MaryAnn, of Organ Cave, Danny Level of Caldwell, and Barry Level of Organ Cave; two brothers, J.W. Boone of Saluda, VA, and Norman Boone and wife, Glenna, of Millersburg, OH; six step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at 2 PM at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel in Alderson with the Rev. Sam Groves officiating. Burial will follow at the Alderson Cemetery in Alderson.

Friends may call Sunday, February 22, from 1-2 PM at the funeral home.
