Samuel Ray Sizemore Sr., 79, of Trout, WV, died Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, WV, following a short illness.
Born August 3, 1935, he was the son of the late Samuel David Sizemore and the late Jesse Lewis Sizemore Baldwin.
Ray retired from Greenbrier Valley Solid Waste and was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Scott Sizemore; two brothers, Don and Dale Sizemore; and two sisters, Lottie Sizemore and Naomi Sizemore Kincaid.
He is survived by his children, Samuel Ray Sizemore Jr. and Marie of Ronceverte, WV, Sherry Sizemore Boggs and Greg of Crawley, WV, and Steve Sizemore and Denise of Lewisburg, WV; grandchildren, Tanya Hazelwood of Ronceverte, Tiffany Sims of Ronceverte, Cassie Swift of Crawley, and Cody Sizemore of Lewisburg; great-grandchildren, Madison Meadows of Ronceverte, Tanner Sizemore of Lewisburg, and Zandrew Sims of Ronceverte; a great-great-granddaughter, Violet Meadows; sisters, Dorothy Hunter of Crawley, Delta Thomas and Lesa Fitzgerald of Williamsburg, WV, and Jenny Sizemore of New Martinsville, VA; brothers, Hugh Baldwin of Alderson, WV, Randy Baldwin of Rupert, WV, Jerry Baldwin of Smoot, WV, William “Tucker” Sizemore of Williamsburg, and James Sizemore of Asbury, WV; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services are scheduled for Monday, February 9, 2015, at 11 AM at Trout Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Windy Knoll Cemetery at Williamsburg.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Sunday, February 8, at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
Christopher Sizemore, Albert Boggs, Davy Hunter, Pat McCoy, James Sizemore, and Corley Thomas will serve as pallbearers.
