Robert “Bob” Elwood Surgeon passed away at this home on Saturday, January 31, 2015.

Bob was born December 24, 1946, in Ronceverte, WV, the son of the late Robert Elwood Surgeon Sr. and Mildred Suttle Surgeon Atchison.

Bob graduated from Greenbrier High School in Ronceverte in 1964 and continued his education at Chicago Technical College. In March 1966, Bob was drafted into the United States Army and served for three years during the Vietnam conflict. He then worked and retired from ABB after 47 years. He was a charter member of Greystone Baptist Church in Fairlea, WV, and a faithful member until his passing.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Rich Hartman.

Bob is survived by sisters-in-law, Vila and husband, Al Clowser, from Lewisburg, WV, Shirley and husband, Ralph Perry, from Grundy, VA, Lorraine and husband, Ron Hummer, from Anaheim, CA, and Clarice and husband, Bob Short, from White Mountain Lake, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.

After a seven-year battle with cancer, Bob entered heaven and met his Savior face to face.

Bob was loved by his wife, Ginny, who was his soul mate and best friend for 49 years. Their love grew greater as each day passed. He will be greatly missed by her; their son, Jeff; daughter-in-law, Misti; and precious grandson, Jeffrey, from Pensacola, FL.

Special heartfelt thanks to our Greystone Baptist Church family and the show of love from all our friends. And thank you to Hospice for our special nurses and aids for their care and concern.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg from 5-7 PM.

The service will immediately follow the visitation at 7 PM at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 4, at the Wallace & Wallace Cemetery at 11 AM.

Officiating the service will be Pastors Youel Altizer and Ryan Steinke from Greystone Baptist Church, Pastor Mark Brandon from Chattanooga, TN, and Pastor Brian Dean from Charleston, WV.

Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.WallaceandWallaceFH.com.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
