Gerald Albert Rider Sr., 86, of Neola, WV, died Friday, January 2, 2015, from injuries received in an auto accident.
He was born December 20, 1928, at Neola the son of the late George and Icie Bogan Rider.
Gerald was a retired glazier, an Army veteran of the Korean conflict, a member of IUPAT District Council #51, and was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
In addition to his parents, a sister, Madge Rider Robertson, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Chapman Rider; daughters, Judith Ann Rider, Janice Lynn Rider Gillespie, and Jill Rider Wong; son, Gerald A. Rider Jr.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the VanReenen Funeral Home in Marlinton, WV, on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at 2 PM with Gary Waple officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM at the funeral home on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Fresenius Dialysis Center in Fairlea, WV.
VanReenen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
