The few frosty days we’ve had this winter have left some people already yearning for summer. But that is not so for Lewisburg Fire Chief Wayne Pennington, who’s hoping that New Year’s Day will be the coldest on record – and for good reason. Pennington, who has marched as the “New Year’s Baby” in Lewisburg’s annual Shanghai Parade since the mid-1980s, is hanging up his marching shoes after this year.
