CARPENTER

“Those who were lucky enough to meet Dakota know how contagious his smile and personality were. Dakota never met a stranger, and if he did, they became a friend within minutes. There never was, and never will be, a light that shines as bright as his. He had a soul shaking existence that will never be forgotten: it lives on through his beautiful children and all of the cherished memories he left behind.” – Sissy

Dakota Blue Carpenter, 29, of Lewisburg, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at CAMC General Hospital in Charleston after going into cardiac arrest.

Born September 17, 1991 in Charleston, he was the son of Tommy and Angie Burns Carpenter of Lewisburg. Being a father was the most important role in his life; his children were his world. He was a former employee of Renick Millworks and Tractor Supply Company,

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Gayle Burns Spencer; maternal great grandfather, Rev. Clinton Spencer; paternal great-grandparents: Debo and Mildred Carpenter, and Melvin and Esther Hammons; and best friend, Caleb King.

Along with his parents, those left to cherish his memory are daughter, Alyssa Ann Grace Mullins; son, Leighton Josiah Carpenter of Frankford; sister, Marisha Carpenter and partner, Sam Romine of Lewisburg; maternal grandfather, Lonnie Spencer and wife, Rose of Alderson; paternal grandparents, Vaughn (Skeeter) and Mary Carpenter of Flat Mt.; maternal great-grandmother, Carrie Spencer of PA; mother of his children, Courtney Carpenter May of Shady Spring; nieces, Arabella, Mary, and Audrey Hanna; honorary grandparents, Cecil and Beth Mullins of Frankford; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Per his request, he was cremated.

A celebration of Dakota’s life is planned for early February. Date, time, and location will be announced at a later date.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

God bless you all.

McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of the arrangements.
