Gary Reese Lewis, age 61, of Alderson, WV, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division, in Charleston, WV, following a short illness.
Born January 13, 1959 in Ronceverte, WV, he was the son of Samuella Shawver Lewis of Alderson, WV, and the late Hobert Lewis. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Drema Kay Lewis; maternal grandparents, Alva “Red” Shawver and Hazel Shawver; and paternal grandparents, George Lewis and Ethel Lewis.
Mr. Lewis worked as a plumber in the Greenbrier Valley for many years. He was a 1977 graduate of Greenbrier East High School in Fairlea, WV, and was of the Christian Faith. Mr. Lewis loved to go fishing and loved to hunt.
Survivors include his mother, Samuella Shawver Lewis of Alderson, WV; two brothers, Craig Lewis and his wife, Brenda Lewis, of Fort Spring, WV, and Mark Lewis and his wife, Carolyn Lewis, of Forest Hill, WV; two sisters, Dinah Lewis King and her husband, Elvis “Buddy” King of Dallas, GA, and Lisa Lewis Stacy and her husband, William “Bill” Stacy of White Sulphur Springs, WV; a special aunt, Nancy Shawver of Fairlea, WV; three nieces, Jennifer King Welton, Sarah Stacy, and Jennifer Stacy Taylor; three nephews, Jason King, Adam Lewis, and Luke Stacy; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many cousins.
Graveside services and burial were held on Monday, September 14, 2020 at 1 p.m. at the Alderson Cemetery in Alderson, WV, with Pastor Otis Lewis officiating. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CDC guidelines were observed, with masks and social distancing encouraged.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
