The Greenbrier County Schools Foundation recently awarded Stephen L. Baldwin Memorial Scholarships to 13 Greenbrier County high school seniors.

Recipients selected for the $1,000 scholarship awards were Liana Brooks, Ashleigh Darnell, Carmen Fogus, Aaron Griffith, Margaret Haas, Evan McClure, Rylee Norman, Amie Shuck, Abbigail Terry, and Ashlee Thompson from Greenbrier East High School.

Receiving the awards from Greenbrier West high School were Brandon Alderson, Braelee Brown, and Kristen Church.

Stephen L. Baldwin served as the superintendent of Greenbrier County Schools from 1988-2002. This endowed scholarship fund was established in 2005 by the Greenbrier County Schools Foundation (GCSF) with a gift from Baldwin’s wife, Charlotte. Stephen L. Baldwin Memorial Scholarships are awarded annually to students from Greenbrier East High School and Greenbrier West High School. Since 2006, 172 scholarships have been awarded.

It was through Baldwin’s dedication and vision that the Greenbrier County Schools Foundation was established. This scholarship fund is just one of many meaningful ways that his commitment to education and his impact on the lives of Greenbrier County students will continue for years to come.

The Greenbrier County Schools Foundation is a non-profit organization that generates and distributes resources to enrich, maintain, and expand educational opportunities for students in Greenbrier County. Gifts to the foundation are tax-deductible. Individuals and businesses interested in making a contribution or learning more about the mission and goals of the foundation should contact Tim Holbrook at 304-546-1893.

Stephen L. Baldwin Memorial Scholarship 2022 recipients from Greenbrier East High School are Abbigail Terry, Liana Brooks, Ashleigh Darnell, Margaret Hass, Aaron Griffith, Evan McClure, Carmen Fogus, Amie Shuck, Rylee Norman, and Ashlee Thompson. Presenting the awards were Tim Holbrook, executive director of the Greenbrier County Schools Foundation, and Paisley Baldwin, granddaughter of Stephen Baldwin, and Matt Baldwin, son of Stephen Baldwin.
