ALDERSON WVDN – The 64th annual Alderson 4th of July Celebration will take place June 25-July 4. The schedule of events is as follows:
Saturday, June 25
8 a.m. Youth bicycle race registration at Alderson Memorial Football Field. Three age divisions: 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.
9 a.m. Youth bicycle race presented by Tri-County Fire Company. Contact Jimmy Massey, 304-667-3475.
Wednesday, June 29
1 p.m. Judging home and business decorating contest. Contact Brenda Gabbert, 304-445-7210.
Friday, July 1
6-10 p.m. WV Inflatables at Alderson Memorial Football Field. Bounce houses, water slides, obstacle courses and more. Contact Tessa Mitchell, 304-667-2654.
7-10 p.m. Goodson Boys at Alderson Memorial Football Field. Free admission; bring your own chair; rain or shine.
Saturday, July 2
7:30-8 a.m. Run for Snacks 5K registration at Alderson Public Library.
9 a.m. Run for Snacks 5K race and kids’ fun run walk or run event. All ages welcome. Contact Laurie Bennett, 540-798-5737.
12-1 p.m. All American baking contest, Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church. Entries must be dropped off between 12-1 p.m. The 2022 theme is best decorated 4th of July cake. Sponsored by Sunshine Dist., Little Debbie, Crawley. Contact Brenda Gabbert at 304-445-7210.
1 p.m. Sixth annual horse show at 117 Greenbrier River Estates, Alderson, Glen Ray Road. Registration will start at 10 a.m. Payouts will be First, Second, Third, ribbon Fourth and Fifth. 2-4 p.m. Ice cream social at Alderson Depot. Contact Doris Kasley, Alderson Main Street, at 304-281-2507.
6-8 p.m. Alderson High School alumni and friends gathering, City National Bank, Alderson branch. Light refreshments provided. Class roll call at 7 p.m. RSVP to Linda Loudermilk at 304-445-7520 by 6-28-22. Donations accepted.
7 p.m. Firemen’s rodeo at Alderson Memorial Football Field. Free admission. Sponsored by Alderson Fire Department and EMS. Contact Rick Honaker, 304-445-7420.
Sunday, July 3
11 a.m. Sunday worship service. Alderson area churches invite you to attend the church of your choice.
1:30 p.m. River events at Alderson Mini Park. Enjoy an afternoon of fun in the Greenbrier River. Bring your own chair. Men, women, children, and anything-that-floats races. Contact Jessie Willis at 304-646-7893.
7 p.m. Gospel sing at Alderson Memorial Football Field. Bring your own chair and enjoy an evening of gospel music by various local artists. Sponsored by the Alderson River of Life Church. Contact Anthony Carter at 304-661-0670. In the event of inclement weather, the gospel sing will be moved to the Alderson River of Life Church on Rt.63.
Monday, July 4
8 a.m. Parade line up at Alderson Elementary School on Virginia Street. Line-up position depends on the time of your arrival. Contact Jessie Willis at 304-646-7893 or Jimmy Massey at 304-667-3475.
10:30 a.m. 2022 Grand Parade with queens, floats, cars, bicycles, tractors, horses and fire engines. Trophies and prizes in all categories. After the parade, trophies and prizes can be picked up at Alderson Memorial Football Field. Contact Jessie Willis at 304-646-7893 or Jimmy Massey at 304-667-3475.
10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Car Show in the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church parking lot on North Monroe Street. Contact Richard Morgan, 304-646-4490.
1 p.m. Presentation of Colors at Alderson Memorial Football Field. Introduction of Miss Fireworks and 4th of July salute, awarding of parade prizes, and flag raising by Greenbrier East High School JROTC and the VFW Post no. 6723.
1-9:30 p.m. WV Inflatables at Alderson Memorial Football Field. Bounce houses, water slides, obstacle courses and more. Contact Tessa Mitchell, 304-667-2654.
1:30 p.m. Field events at Alderson Memorial Football Field. Afternoon filled with fun and events for everyone including races of all kinds. No pre-registration required. Contact Jimmy Massey at 304-667-3475 or Jessie Willis at 304-646-7893.
4 p.m. Tug of war at Alderson Memorial Football Field. Greenbrier vs. Monroe and kids tug of war.
7:30-9:30 p.m. Featured entertainment: The Hillbilly Way at Alderson Memorial Football Field. Children aged six and under free. Bring your own chair; rain or shine.
9:45 p.m. Introduction of Miss Fireworks 2022 at Alderson Memorial Football Field.
10 p.m. Grand fireworks display at Alderson Memorial Football Field. The Alderson Fire Department will put on the best show in Greenbrier County.

Tuesday, July 5
6 p.m. Ducks on the Greenbrier, rubber duck race at the Alderson Mini Park. Grand prize: $5,000 cash plus many other prizes.
Rubber duck tickets are on sale now and every day during the celebration. You do not have to be present to win.
This event is presented by the Alderson 4th of July committee, Alderson Fire Department and EMS, the Miss Fireworks committee, Tri-County Fire Co., and the Woman’s Club of Alderson.
