WILLIAMSON
Gary Thomas Williamson, of Renick, WV, born January 30, 1955 in Ronceverte, WV, went home to the Lord on Saturday, January 22, 2022 following a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn and Maxine Wright; as well as brothers, Chester Wright and Leon Wright.
Left to treasure his memory are his beloved wife, Connie Williamson of Renick; sisters, Susan Walker of Renick, Carol Sue Wright of Basset, VA; brother, Richard Williamson and wife, Debbie of Culpepper, VA; his sons, Nathaniel Williamson and wife, Leona of Renick, Daniel Williamson of Renick, Thomas Powell and his wife, Amber of Elkins; daughter, Catherine Dooley and husband, Bill of Frankford; seven grandsons; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; his uncle, Tom Daniels (Euda); nephew, Richard Williamson (Samantha); best friend, Michael Roberts; seven cousins; and scores of friends.
Gary was a lifetime resident of Renick and attended Greenbrier East High School. After school, he worked at Denmar State Hospital, until its closing. Gary’s passion was cars (Dodge Trucks), and he worked as a mechanic, until retirement. A lover of all things that went fast and had nice tires, he could be found, most days, in the garage. If not, he was outdoors.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping with his wife and family, bear hunting, and was proud of his lifelong success at helping to keep the whitetail deer population under control in Greenbrier County.
Gary cherished his family. He loved his brothers and sisters dearly and loved his children unconditionally. He was a wonderful father, loving grandfather, and a devoted husband to his wife of 30 years.
He was loved tremendously and will be missed just as much.
The service will be officiated by pastor and friend, Rev. David Workman, at McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg, WV on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to service.
McCraw Funeral Home of Lewisburg is in charge of the arrangements.
