A Nicholas County man was arrested on the afternoon of Friday, November 12 in connection with an incident which occurred in June of 2019. Tyler Macabe Hamrick, 26, of Nettie has been charged with one-count of destruction of property, and grand larceny.
On the evening of Wednesday, June 19, 2019, the Catfish Bar and Grille in Rainelle contacted law enforcement in reference to an auto-theft which had reportedly taken place at that establishment. The following day, on June 20, the West Virginia State Police took over the investigation.
According to the criminal complaint, investigators “were advised that the building across the street had cameras and possibly caught footage of the crime.”
Upon reviewing the footage, troopers “witnessed a younger looking man (later identified as Tyler Macabe Hamrick) dressed in a black shirt and white colored gym shorts and black shoes walking on US-60 east-bound. [ ] (Troopers) were also able to spot the stolen vehicle drive off the parking lot at Catfish’s.”
The vehicle was subsequently found on the morning of June 20 by Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies. Hamrick was unconscious inside the vehicle at the time it was found. In addition to the theft and not being in possession of a valid driver’s license, Hamrick is further accused of causing $240 worth of damage to the vehicle’s interior.
Tyler Macabe Hamrick is currently being held at Western Regional Jail in lieu of a $5,000 cash-bond or surety.
