General Dwight D. Eisenhower swept the Republican Party back into the White House after 20 years of Democratic rule with a landslide victory over his opponent, Democrat candidate Adlai Stevenson.

Captain John K. Harper, commanding officer, presented first lieutenant bars to Walter A. Alderman at Fort Meade, Md.
Alderman is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Alderman of Big Draft Road.

Private David J. Craft Jr., son of Mrs. Marie Craft of Ingleside Avenue, White Sulphur Springs, is in basic training at Camp Gordon, Georgia.

The Coca-Cola Bottling Works in Ronceverte is advertising cases of Coca-Cola, 24 bottles per case, for $1.00. Available at your favorite dealer.

The White Sulphur Springs Green Devils over came the Alderson Indians with a determined second half surge to capture the 1952 Greenbrier Valley Conference Championship playoff 12-6 at Memorial Park.

On Sunday, November 16, a westbound C&O freight train jumped the tracks at the Riverside Avenue overpass in Covington, Va. At the same time an eastbound C&O passenger train was nearing Covington.
Tower operator Paul Bowden of Caldwell, on duty on the Clifton Forge division tower west of Covington, averted a collision of the trains by flashing a danger signal that slowed and virtually stopped all trains in the area.

Patricia Griffith, a freshman at Greenbrier College in Lewisburg, has been elected treasurer of her class.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Griffith of Villa Park, White Sulphur Springs.

Lieutenant Templeton Gillespie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Gillespie of White Sulphur Springs, has been promoted to company commander of the 6th Armored Division at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

The White Sulphur Plant of Burlington Mills Incorporated is erecting a 75,000-gallon tank adjacent to their plant. Purpose of the water tower is for stand-by water storage for fire protection.

Bernard “Chris” Neville and Charles “Val” Vallandingham announce the grand opening of their new Main Street shop, Neville Refrigeration Sales and Service on November 28.

While visiting in White Sulphur Springs from Richmond, Va., Mrs. W.W. Buran sold her home on East Main Street to Dr. and Mrs. Abbot, who have occupied the residence as a clinic for the past year.

Mary Agnes Via and Gordon Shanklin, students at Concord College in Athens, spent last weekend in White Sulphur Springs with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Via and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Shanklin.

Mrs. R.R. Pittman of White Sulphur Springs was installed as the new president of the Women’s Auxiliary to the Greenbrier Valley Medical Society during a business and luncheon meeting held at the El Poco Club in Marlinton on November 7.
