The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Because of this, Appalachian Regional Hospital (ARH) is offering $50 mammograms with physician’s orders throughout the month. This covers the actual test as well as a radiologist’s interpretation of the results.

For anyone in Summers County who wishes to take advantage of this offer, orders can be obtained at Summers County ARH Clinic and the testing is performed at Beckley ARH.

According to the Cancer Statistics Center, which is part of the American Cancer Society, female breast cancer was the leading type of cancer in incidence rates between 2013 and 2017. This data showed an average rate of 117.5 per 100,000. It was also the second leading type in cancer-related death rates between 2014 and 2018.

For more information on this program visit www.arhwomenshealth.com. To set up a mammogram, talk to your doctor today. Screening and early detection save lives.
