LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – The West Virginia Daily News/Greenbrier Independent is excited to announce our annual Greenbrier Humane Society item drive from April 1-30. Once again, our office is a drop-off point for pet products that will be delivered to the Greenbrier Humane Society.
Your donations to the Greenbrier Humane Society item drive provide a powerful direct impact on the lives of animals in need, offering them comfort, security and hope for a better tomorrow. These drives play a crucial role in supporting the Humane Society’s mission and ensuring that animals receive the care and resources they require. These donations not only provide physical comfort but also contribute to the mental well-being of animals, helping to reduce stress and anxiety in unfamiliar environments.
The drive also helps the financial burden on the Humane Society, enabling them to allocate resources towards critical services such as veterinary care, spaying and neutering programs, and animal welfare. By donating items, individuals directly support the Humane Society’s daily operations and ensure that animals receive the care they need.
I spoke with Josie Clark, the shelter’s operations manager, and she provided a list of items that are needed: clip-on and slip leashes, dry dog and cat food, HE laundry detergent, dryer sheets, Clorox wipes, dog and cat treats, toys, non-clumping cat litter, collars (medium and large), fortiflora, fancy feet wet kitten food, paper towels, 13-gallon trash bags, Dawn dish soap and pet beds. Clark also stated that it is currently kitten season, and they need KMR kitten milk replacement.
The Greenbrier Humane Society is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for adoptions or to pick up spay/neuter vouchers. Animals ready for adoption are pictured along with descriptions on the Humane Society‘s Facebook page. The available pets are kept up to date.
Anyone wishing to donate to the drive can drop off pet care products at our office at 188 Foster St. in Lewisburg between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
Let’s get started and keep those items coming! The Greenbrier Valley always comes through with donations. Our goal is 1,000 items collected by Thursday, April 30.
