Elmer Clayton Wykle

Elmer Clayton Wykle, 75, a dedicated professional and beloved family man, passed away on March 21, 2026, in Lindside, WV. Born on July 28, 1950, in Frankford, WV, Mr. Wykle lived a life marked by commitment to both his career and his loved ones.

Mr. Wykle graduated from Frankford High School and was an active member of Enon Baptist Church, where he found spiritual nourishment and community. His professional life was distinguished by a remarkable forty-year tenure as a trackman with CSX, retiring after decades of devoted service. His work ethic and loyalty made him a respected figure among colleagues and friends alike.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Elmer was a passionate outdoorsman who cherished hunting and fishing, often accompanied by his brother, Joe. He was also an enthusiastic sports fan, showing ardent support for West Virginia University Athletics and the Cincinnati Reds Baseball team, passions that brought him joy and connection.

Elmer’s family was the centerpiece of his life. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Mikki Massie Wykle, who loved him deeply and will miss him immensely. They shared a life enriched by their daughter, Tracy Wykle Hunter, and granddaughter, Laney Hunter, both of whom carry his legacy forward.

His surviving siblings include Jim Wykle and wife, Paula, Jerry Wykle and wife, Gisela, Jack Wykle and wife, Nadine, Joe Wykle, Joyce Walton, and Mary Ellen Whitt, all of whom were a vital part of his close-knit family circle. The bonds they shared reflected years of mutual support and affection.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Anna Wykle; his son, Eric Wykle; brothers, Layton “Bub” Wykle and Randy Wykle; sister, Carolyn Mankins; and sisters-in-law, Cindy Wykle, Marian Ann Wykle; and brothers-in-law, Don Whitt and Larry Walton.

Elmer’s life was marked by dedication to family, faith, and hard work. His steadfast presence and warm spirit touched many, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the honor to know him. He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but for the deep love he showed to his family, especially his devoted wife, daughter, and granddaughter.

His legacy endures in the hearts of those he leaves behind, a testament to a life well-lived with purpose and affection.

It was Elmer’s wish to be cremated; there will be no services.
