Summers County, W.V.a. (WVDN) – Interstate 64 will have a new traffic pattern at milepost 139, Sandstone Bridge, beginning Wednesday, April 1, 2026, through late October 2026, for the final phase of the bridge rehabilitation project.

The previous lane closure will be shifted for traffic to utilize the completed fast lanes, and the Eastbound I-64 exit ramp at Exit 139 will be closed during this period. Eastbound motorists wanting to exit to WV 20 will follow the posted detour along I-64 approximately four miles east to Exit 143 at Green Sulphur Springs, then reenter I-64 westbound back to Exit 139. The estimated travel time for the detour is 10 to 12 minutes, so motorists should adjust their travel accordingly.

Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances may affect the project schedule. The WVDOH apologies for any inconvenience and asks motorists to observe all traffic control signs and devices and use caution while traveling around the work zone.
