Chloe, W.Va. (WVDN) – Mickey Case Carter, 26, was charged with First Degree Murder. The investigation is ongoing.
ORIGINAL STORY:
On Friday, March 13, 2026, at approximately 2:38 a.m., Sergeant N. S. Stepp of the West Virginia State Police Grantsville Detachment initiated an investigation into the possible homicide of a twenty-nine-year-old female, Emily Metheney, near the community of Chloe, West Virginia.
The investigation is currently ongoing. At this time, there is no reason to believe there is any continuing threat to the public.
Sergeant Stepp is being assisted by troopers from the Grantsville, Spencer, and Clay Detachments, as well as the West Virginia State Police Crime Scene Team, the West Virginia State Police Polygraph Unit, and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim’s next of kin has been notified.
