LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – A Lewisburg man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) on March 6 after police responded to a call regarding a allegedly stolen vehicle.
According to a criminal complaint, Greenbrier County 911 dispatched an officer to the vicinity of The Humble Tomato regarding a stolen vehicle report. When the officer arrived, they attempted to locate the complainant. Dispatch reported difficulty in reaching the caller, noting that they sounded impaired and that what appeared to be a drive-thru ordering service could be heard in the background.
The officer proceeded north on US 219 to search for the vehicle, described as a silver Chevy Silverado. The officer observed the vehicle traveling northbound at a high rate of speed before it turned onto Grand Avenue. The officer followed the vehicle, which pulled into the Home 2 Suites by Hilton. The driver, identified as Carl Biddle, exited the truck.
Upon making contact, the officer noted a strong odor of alcohol, slurred speech, watery eyes, and an unsteady gait. When asked if he had initiated the 911 call, Biddle reportedly confirmed he had.
According to the criminal complaint, the officer questioned Biddle regarding the incident. Biddle reportedly stated that his truck was not parked where he originally believed he had left it. When asked if he had been consuming alcoholic beverages, Biddle allegedly responded that he had and characterized the amount as “a good bit.”
The complaint further alleges that when the officer asked if he should have been operating a vehicle, Biddle reportedly stated that he should not have been driving. Biddle told the officer he had become intoxicated and forgotten his parking location, eventually walking around until he located the truck himself.
Biddle consented to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, where the report states he exhibited multiple indicators of impairment. A preliminary breath test resulted in a $0.213$ BrAC.
Following his arrest, Biddle was transported to a testing facility to obtain an evidentiary chemical breath test. After being read his Miranda Rights and the West Virginia implied consent statement, Biddle consented to a second test, which yielded a result of $0.214$ BrAC. Biddle was processed at the Lewisburg Police Department and transported to the Southern Regional Jail.
DISCLAIMER: All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The information in this report is sourced directly from public criminal records and official law enforcement statements. As of March 10, 2026, Biddle is no longer listed as an inmate at the Southern Regional Jail.
