CRAWLEY W.Va. (WVDN) – Western Greenbrier Middle School recently showcased student achievement and academic excellence during its annual Social Studies Fair. The event highlighted a wide range of student projects, each demonstrating research skills, creativity, and a strong understanding of historical and current topics in social studies.
Students presented displays on various themes, including history, geography, civics, economics, and culture. Projects featured visual presentations, written reports, and many extra components designed to engage viewers and explain key concepts. Many students spent weeks preparing their work, researching their topics, and organizing their information.
The Social Studies department played a central role in organizing the fair, guiding students through selecting topics, using reliable sources, the research process, and helping them develop their ideas into polished presentations.
Student Government Association (SGA) members also contributed to the success of the event. SGA students assisted with setup, greeted participants and guests, and helped ensure the fair ran smoothly throughout the day. Their leadership and service provided valuable support to both staff and students.
Volunteer judges from the community evaluated the projects, offering feedback and recognizing outstanding work. Judges considered criteria such as content accuracy, creativity, organization, and presentation skills. Their participation helped create a real-world audience for student learning and added an element of excitement and recognition to the fair.
The Social Studies Fair at Western Greenbrier Middle School continues to serve as an important opportunity for students to deepen their knowledge, build confidence, and share their learning with others. Through the combined efforts of the Social Studies department, SGA students, volunteer judges, and the participating students, this year’s event was a notable success.
