Chapmanville, W.Va. (WVDN) — While assisting parole officers with a compliance check in the Chapmanville area of Logan County on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, West Virginia State Troopers discovered three people, including a three-year-old boy, allegedly being held against their will.

Upon arrival, troopers were advised that Tony Ritchie Jr., 38, of Chapmanville, was inside the residence and refusing to cooperate with parole officers. Troopers subsequently obtained a search warrant for the residence. After executing the warrant and making entry, troopers took Mr. Ritchie into custody without incident.

During the operation, troopers located two adult females and a three-year-old male inside a bedroom of the residence. An investigation determined that Mr. Ritchie had allegedly held the individuals against their will by blocking the doorway and preventing them from leaving.

Mr. Ritchie has been charged with three counts of Unlawful Restraint, in addition to multiple parole violations. He is currently incarcerated at the Southwestern Regional Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
