Anna A. (Boggs) McDowell

Anna A. (Boggs) McDowell, 90, of Ronceverte, WV, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

She was born in Monroe County, WV, on January 10, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Fauncy D. and Minnie E. (Henry) Boggs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. McDowell; and sisters, Virginia Saunders, Marie Dowdy, and Priscilla Cochrane.

She is survived by her children, William Edward McDowell (Terri) and Janet R. King (Kent); grandchildren, Jonathan McDowell (Elizabeth), Rebekah McDowell, Krista King, Emily Hinkle (Anthony), and Jarrod King (Dee); great-grandchildren, Jude McDowell, Charlee McDowell, and Hattie King; and several nieces and nephews.

Anna and Bill were faithful members of Zion’s Light Baptist Church, where she was active in the ladies’ circle. She was an avid gardener and loved harvesting and canning vegetables. During the winter months, she kept busy by making quilts, and her family would anxiously wait to see who would get the finished product.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Zion’s Light Baptist Church in Organ Cave with the Reverend Gary Baker officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the McLean Cemetery in Organ Cave.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to Peyton Hospice House, 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
