LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – According to a criminal complaint, on Jan. 29, around 9:51 p.m., an officer was dispatched by Greenbrier County 911 to an area in Lewisburg for a possible breaking and entering. The victim reportedly said that his ex, later identified as Whitney Wease, was breaking in through a window.
As the officer was enroute, he was advised by dispatch that Wease was allegedly hitting the victim and trying to grab his phone.
One officer went into the residence with the victim while the other stayed with Wease.
The officer asked Wease what was going on. According to the criminal complaint, she said the victim was cheating on her, and she had allegedly noted another individual at the residence when driving by.
The officer reportedly used his training to deduce that Wease was under the influence of alcohol, given that there was an odor coming from her person and the way she was interacting with him. While waiting outside, Wease turned away from the officer and reportedly proceeded to walk towards the house. The officer told her, “Hey, don’t go in there.” According to the complaint, the officer took her from the residence, and Wease was yelling, “I’m just going to see what she looks like.“ After this, Wease was detained and taken to the officer’s patrol vehicle.
The officer then went back to speak with the other officer and the victim. They said around 8:40 p.m., Wease came to the door and started knocking and saying things. Allegedly, around half an hour later, she came back and began banging on the back porch door and windows. Wease then went around the side and began banging on the bedroom window, which is where she forced her way into the residence, according to the officer’s report.
Reportedly, the officer saw that the blinds were knocked down and took pictures. The complaint notes that the victim pointed to the bed and said, “This was when I was on the phone with dispatch, and she started to hit me.” At this point, the officer reportedly noticed bruising and swelling on the victim’s right cheek. The officer then went to the back porch and attempted to get a picture of Wease’s footprints in the ice around the residence.
Once the investigation was completed, the officer placed Wease under arrest for breaking and entering and domestic battery. Wease was then transported to the Lewisburg Police Department for processing.
While being processed, Wease was asked what happened. According to the criminal complaint, Wease stated she had her daughter at the ER. When they left and headed home, she went by the victim’s house to see if he had anyone there. She reportedly noted seeing a vehicle she knew belonged to someone other than the victim. When she knocked on the door, she reported seeing a female running to the bathroom. Then Wease reportedly left.
The complaint noted that Wease said that while she was home, she drank two glasses of wine and had her son take her back to the victim’s house. She once again knocked on the door before going to the back door, then the window, which she allegedly proceeded to open and climb through. Wease then said the victim picked her up and removed her from the residence.
Wease reportedly made a phone call before being transported to Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment. At the time of publishing, Wease is no longer listed as an inmate at SRJ.
