FAIRLEA- Greenbrier East senior Kaden Stone just recently announced his intent to play football at the next level for Muskingum University, a private university in New Concord, Ohio.
Stone, a first team all-state defensive back selection in 2025 was a two-way star for the Spartans and caught 24 passes for 412 yards and six touchdowns, and on defense, had 46 tackles, five interceptions, and two scores as well.
Stone made quite the name for himself during his time as a Spartan and is currently one of the best, if not the best, wrestler on the wrestling team.
Strong in his faith and active in the community, Stone noted a couple important reasons as to why Muskingum was the choice for him.
“I chose Muskingum because I truly like everything about it. They have great academics, super nice facilities, and I really like the way they run their program. Ultimately, what sold me on Muskingum was when Coach (Matt) Nardo talked to me about keeping God present within the program and how the team really buys into it.
Once he arrives on campus, the all-stater expects to compete for playing time right from the jump due to his hard-working nature, and his future coaches are expecting the same.
“My main goal for myself once I get on campus is to not get complacent. I want to continue to strive to be my best academically and athletically. I want to earn playing time and to not let others outwork me,” he said.
“The coaches plan for me is to get right to work. They expect me to come in and try to separate myself from the others and earn a spot on the field.”
After his time at Greenbrier East, Stone knows the school and his coaches will have him prepared for any challenges that may lie ahead.
“Greenbrier East has absolutely prepared me for this next step. It has been a big part in my success throughout my high school journey,” Stone stated firmly.
The commitment to the Muskies is not just important for Stone but also for his family and he is extremely thankful for all who helped him reach his ultimate goal along the way.
“I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to continue my journey of life. Without him none of this is possible,” Stone said.
“I also want to thank the coaching staff at Greenbrier East. All the early morning workouts and the consistent grind to get better has helped me get here. I then want to thank my parents for being right by my side. My commitment is just as important to them as it is for me.”
