LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – According to a criminal complaint, on December 13, an officer with the Lewisburg Police Department received a call through Greenbrier County 911 regarding a well-being check in the vicinity of Lewisburg Walmart. As the officer was driving to the scene, Greenbrier County Dispatch reportedly informed him that a male, later identified as Kevin Kipp, and a female could be seen inside Walmart, walking around, close to falling, nodding in and out, and they seemed to be under the influence.
As the officer was driving to the scene, another officer told him that he was at Walmart and had located both subjects in their vehicle in the parking lot. When the officer arrived at Walmart, he observed that the female was hardly able to stand and was slurring her speech. He questioned the female if she had anything illegal on her person or in her purse. She said she might have drug paraphernalia in her purse, but that was all.
With the female being under the influence, the officer put her in restraints and placed her in the emergency vehicle.
Next, the officer talked with Kipp. When questioned, Kipp allegedly admitted to taking fentanyl. According to the criminal complaint, Kipp said it had been around 45 minutes to an hour prior, when he took the fentanyl. Upon being questioned, Kipp reportedly said he didn’t have fentanyl in his vehicle, but he said he was staying at Home 2 Suites, on the hill from Walmart. The officer asked if there was fentanyl. there. Kipp reportedly said he didn’t think so. The officers asked Kipp for the location of the fentanyl he had been taking. Kipp allegedly said if it was anywhere, it would be in the motel room, and he would help the officers find it.
Kipp reportedly consented to a search of his vehicle, but nothing illegal was found. Another officer asked Kipp if he was getting drugs from people out of Akron, Ohio, to which Kipp allegedly responded, ”Not anymore.” Additionally, the complaint states that Kipp said the men running drugs from Akron, Ohio, owed him money for drugs he sold to them. The male from Akron running drugs was identified as “Aaron” by Kipp, but he reportedly had no other information on the individual.
The officer asked Kipp how much fentanyl was in his motel room. Kipp reportedly said if an 8-ball or 3.5 grams were there, he would be shocked.
During this time frame, a towing company came and removed Kipp’s vehicle from the Walmart parking lot.
Kipp and the female were escorted to the motel room at Hotel 2 Suites. Once inside the motel room, officers recovered a baggie containing a blue powder substance suspected of being fentanyl.
The officer asked Kipp how he got the fentanyl. According to the complaint, Kipp said he met Aaron on Dec. 12 and got it. He also reportedly said he met up with Aaron, who drove him to the local Truist Bank to obtain cash for the fentanyl. Kipp reportedly further explained he couldn’t find his debit card, so he paid Aaron on Cash App for the fentanyl. Kipp also admitted to the officer that he purchases and sells fentanyl with Aaron from Akron, Ohio.
The officer then placed Kipp in mechanical restraints and put him in the emergency vehicle. The officer also recovered a couple of types of cell phones. The female was taken by EMS to be evaluated by medical professionals. EMS advised the officer that drug paraphernalia was found in the female’s bra, and they requested that she be searched again. A baggie containing a blue powder substance suspected of being fentanyl was found in the female’s crotch area. The officer will be obtaining warrants for the female at a later date.
Kipp was transported to the Lewisburg Police Department for processing. After processing, he was transported to Southern Regional Jail to await his arraignment with the Greenbrier County Magistrate.
At the time of publishing, Kipp is still in Southern Regional Jail with bail set at $75,000.
