RUPERT W.Va. (WVDN) – According to a criminal complaint, on Dec. 13, around 5:43 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the vicinity of Rupert in Greenbrier County. The call was in regards to an alleged breaking and entering in progress.
Officers arrived on the scene, and the victim reportedly told them the camper was his primary residence and that when he left, he had secured it with a lock and chain, but when he got back, the lock was broken, and it was secured from the inside. The criminal complaint notes that there was damage to the door consistent with forcible entry.
The officers knocked on the door, and a male subject reportedly came out of the camper. The individual, later identified as Travis Wickline, had allegedly secured the camper from the inside with the same chain the victim had used on the outside. Wickline was the only occupant of the camper. The officer opened the door to get Wickline out of the camper.
Wickline reportedly said he was allowed to be in the camper, but the victim denied that Wickline had permission to enter or remain in the camper, according to the complaint. Given what the investigation showed, Wickline was placed under arrest and transported to Southern Regional Jail.
The victim was unsure if Wickline had stolen anything, so the officer will be following up at a later date.
At the time of publishing, Wickline remains in Southern Regional Jail with bail set at $10,000.
