BECKLEY- The Greenbrier West Cavalier wrestling team stepped onto the mat this past weekend at the Fallen Heroes Tournament, facing strong competition while honoring the meaning behind one of the season’s most respected events.
The Fallen Heroes Tournament brought together teams from across the region, creating a challenging atmosphere for the Cavaliers as they continued to gain experience and build momentum early in the season.
Greenbrier West wrestlers showed determination throughout the two-day tournament, battling through tough matches and testing themselves against a deep field of opponents. Several Cavaliers picked up hard-earned victories, while others gained valuable mat time against seasoned competitors. The team’s effort reflected steady progress, with wrestlers showing improvement in technique, conditioning, and confidence as the tournament progressed.
The Cavaliers had three wrestlers competing in the Championship pools on Saturday. Kaese Ramos was the 113-pound champion, Dominic Mandeville was fourth place of the 157-pound weight class, and Trey Franklin also finished fourth of the HWT class.
Beyond the competition, the Fallen Heroes Tournament serves as a tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, adding a deeper meaning to every match. The Cavaliers embraced that purpose, competing with respect, grit, and pride in representing Greenbrier West.
As the season moves forward, the experience gained at the Fallen Heroes Tournament will serve as a building block for the Cavaliers. With continued hard work in the practice room and a demanding schedule ahead, Greenbrier West looks to keep improving and carry the lessons learned into upcoming matches.
The Cavaliers host the Lindsey Raines Memorial Tournament following Christmas on December 27th held at Greenbrier West, wrestling begins at 11:00 AM.
This week for Tincher’s Choice is no other than Kaese Ramos, CHAMPION of the Fallen Heroes Tournament.
