RONCEVERTE W.Va. (WVDN) – According to a criminal complaint, on Dec. 12, an officer received a call to respond to the vicinity of Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in regards to a disturbance.
When the officer arrived on scene, he made contact with personnel working in the emergency department. They reportedly told the officer there was a male subject, later identified as Jacob Matthew Boone, who was interfering with the treatment of a patient.
According to reports, hospital security staff encountered resistance from Boone when they attempted to remove him. Staff members reportedly told the officer that Boone was intoxicated but left the emergency department.
When speaking with the staff, the victim allegedly came out of the room crying after speaking with Boone and said she no longer wanted to be treated. The victim signed herself out, and the officer followed her to the parking lot. According to the criminal complaint, the victim and Boone appeared to be trying to leave the parking area quickly.
The officer reportedly asked them to stop because he needed to speak with the victim to make sure she was okay. The complaint states that Boone started yelling at the victim and telling her not to speak or say anything to the officers. The officer then reportedly told Boone to stop yelling so he could speak to the victim.
According to the complaint, the officer attempted to pull the victim away so he could speak with her, and Boone began yelling louder. Boone was given numerous warnings to stop yelling and stop interfering with the officer’s investigation, but he allegedly continued.
The officer noted he gave a final warning to Boone that if he yelled and interfered again, he would be arrested for obstructing an officer. Boone again raised his voice, so at this point, he was placed under arrest and escorted to the police cruiser. Boone allegedly had the smell of alcohol coming from his body, as well as slurred speech and bloodshot, watery eyes.
While searching Boone, the officer reportedly found a 1-ounce bottle of Southern Comfort in Boone’s pocket. Boone was then transported to the Lewisburg office for processing. The victim waited with the vehicle without keys for a sober driver to pick her up. Boone was taken to Southern Regional Jail after processing.
At the time of publishing, Boone is not listed as an inmate at Southern Regional Jail.
