FRANKFORD W.Va. (WVDN) – The Ladies of the Henning Church of God held their regular monthly meeting and Christmas dinner on Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the church fellowship hall. The ladies provided the following report.
Carole Spencer presided, and Pastor Robert Hefner blessed our food. A delicious meal was had by all. After the meal, Angie Scott led in prayer.
Dyan Hefner brought us our devotion, “The White Stocking.” We are to remember that Jesus is his father’s begotten and his birth is being celebrated at this time of year. It is the true meaning of Christmas. The author realized at Christmas that she had forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. She was too busy with being busy at Christmas. All the stockings were hung, and the presents were wrapped. She forgot about Jesus. She decided to hang a white stocking on the mantle. All of her family wrote Jesus a note and what they promised him for the next year and put it in the stocking. They do this every year because he is the true gift of Christmas.
All of the other reports were dispensed with. Carole thanked the members for the food pantry items donated for the Renick and Williamsburg food pantries. She reminded the group that the Maxwelton Ruritans invited us to dinner on December 18. On Saturday, Dec. 20 at 6 p.m., the church will present the play, “Jesus Loves Fruitcakes.” The church choir will present, “Hope in a Manger,” the night love was born on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. Everyone is invited and welcome to attend. The group voted to donate money to a family that recently lost their home due to a fire.
The next meeting will be on January 13, and Carole Spencer dismissed in prayer.
Attending were Alice Coff, Angie Scott, Barb Seldomridge, Beth Carpenter, Blanche Perry, Carole Spencer, Cindy Fleshman, Debbie Sammons, Donna Scott, Dyan Hefner, Fran Spencer, Jamie Harvey, Joan Vance, Marty Burns, Pauline Perkins, Patty Owens, Peggy Seldomridge, Sue Hunt, Pastor Robert Hefner and Lloyd Sammons.
